Sam grew up in Augusta County and has an MBA from Louisiana State University at Shreveport and a B.S in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington. Sam also has a professional certificate in Event Management from The GW School of Business. Sam has dedicated her life to serving the SAW community through various nonprofits and civic organizations including Relay For Life and the Queen City Mischief & Magic Festival in Staunton.
Professionally Sam has worked as the events coordinator for DuPont Community Credit Union and most recently as the Senior Director of Communications and Board Development for the Virginia School Boards Association. Sam lives in Waynesboro with her husband David and goofy rescue pup Olive. Sam, David and Olive love to travel and enjoy camping and boating on Smith Mountain Lake. When asked why she chooses to dedicate her life to nonprofit work Sam stated, “It is important to lift each other up to build a stronger community. If one person or organization can make a difference in someone’s life each day, that is a great day.”
